Hi Skipy

Thanks for the log

I need you to try this:

Run RegFix
Please do this:
  • Copy the contents of the Code Box below to Notepad.
  • Name the file as fix.reg
  • Change the Save as Type to All Files
  • and Save it on the desktop
Code:
REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run] "SpybotSD TeaTimer"="c:\program files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe"=-

Make sure there are NO blank lines before REGEDIT4
Make sure there are TWO blank lines at the end

Then double-click on the fix.reg file, and when it prompts to merge say yes.

Please let me know if you get any problems.

Please let me know if this correct this problem, also can you tell me how the computer is running at the present.

Many Thanks

In order to use the unlocker you need to know where the file is on the c drive. I did a search for 'spy' and found two items related to spybot, I deleted those with the unlocker (but they did not need to be unlocked), I then rebooted and the icon was still there.

I then did a search for 'teatimer', and there it was. Again it did not need to be unlocked but I used it to delete the file. I then rebooted and the icon is now gone.

I am still having the download/buffering issue with video, but at least I am back to where I was before the spybot.

Hi Skipy

Thanks for the information.

Can you tell me does it happen at certain times of the day or all the time.

I need you to do the following:

Download and run Sysclean
  • Create a folder on your desktop called Sysclean.
  • Go to http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp and download sysclean package to the folder you made.
  • Go to http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp and download the Virus Pattern File (Official Pattern Release) to your desktop.
This file will be called lptXXX.zip (XXX represents the version number)
  • Unzip lptXXX.zip and you'll get the file lpt$vpn.XXX. Read here how to unzip/extract properly.
  • Move the lpt$vpn.XXX to the Sysclean-folder you created on your desktop.
  • Open the sysclean-folder and doubleclick sysclean.com.
  • Check: "Automatically clean or delete detected files".
  • Click scan.
Open your sysclean-folder and copy and paste the contents of sysclean.log in your next reply.

Please let me know if you get any problems.

Many Thanks

I am having trouble using copy and paste with the log from trendmicro but it is short so I have re-typed it. Also when I went to run the scan I recieved and error message regarding a missing file (from trendmicro) called 'ssapiptn.da5'. In addition Mcafee found something that ran when the scan ran called 'Tool-NirCmd' it looks like it is part of the sysclean. I ran the scan and the results from the log read as follows.

2009-08-31, 09:16:26, Auto-clean mode specified
2009-08-31, 09:16:27, Initialized Rootkit Driver version 2.2.0.1004
2009-08-31, 09:16:27, Running scanner "c: \documents and settings\bill\desktop\sysclean\TSC.BIN"...
2009-08-31, 09:17:20, scanner "C:\documents and settings\bill\desktop\sysclean\TSC.BIN" has finished running
2009-08-31, 09:17:20, TSC Log:

The scan took way longer than 1 minute so I am not sure what this log is showing.

As for your question regarding the time of day. It seems to be fairly consistent at all times. I first noticed the problem when I started playing games online from sites like 'addictinggames.co, and armorgames.com'. So I first thought they downloaded some type of spyware, or adware or other type of virus. That is why I originally tried to download spybot from cnet.

Thanks for all of your time and help. I really appreciate you looking at all of this.

That name isn't part of sysclean your Mcafee found another infection.

I'll need you to run the following for me:

BITDENDER ONLINE SCAN

* Go HERE and do the BitDefender online virus scan.
o Click "I Agree" to agree to the EULA.
o Allow the ActiveX control to install when prompted.
o Click "Click here to scan" to begin the scan.
o Please refrain from using the computer until the scan is finished.
o When the scan is finished, click on "Click here to export the scan results"
o Save the report to your desktop then come back here and attach it to your next reply along with a new Hijack This log.

Please let me know if you get any problems.

Many Thanks

How many errors does your computer have?

The Problem

Have you noticed that the longer you have your computer, the slower it runs and the more it crashes? Often this phenomenon is caused by problems in the registry that accrue over time. Left unchecked, your system will become increasingly unstable, run more slowly and crash more frequently.

The Solution

RegistryBooster 2 is the easy answer to registry problems. It conducts deep scans of your registry to check for errors and conflicts, then repairs and optimizes the registry to peak performance and stability. Youíll see immediate increases in speed and decreases in system conflicts.

2 minutes can save you months of frustration and crashes.
